What We're LookingFor

Experienced Doulas: You have extensive experience working as a doula and a deep understanding of the emotional, physical, and informational support that families need. A general minimum of 50 births is required, but more preferred.

Passionate Educators: You are passionate about teaching and have a talent for engaging and inspiring others.

Committed to Excellence: You are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism and high ethical standards for how you engage in community.

Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in a team environment and are eager to contribute to our collective success, but you’re also able to work independently during trainings.

About the Doula Trainer Program

We achieve our mission by:

Our program was designed to consider the level of experience of each trainer candidate. If you’ve been teaching with another organization for 15 years it doesn’t make sense to have the same conditions as someone who’s becoming a trainer for the first time. So our program is divided into 3 pathways:

Pathway 1 – Experienced trainers/mentors/program directors

This pathway is for you if you’ve been teaching as a doula trainer at a recognized doula certification organization for 10 or more years. You’ve built your own brand and your own community but you’re looking to align yourself with an organization that fits your values. You likely have a lot of your own systems in place and your own curriculum and way of doing things, but maybe you’re looking for some new possibilities. In this format financial compensation is assessed case by case. Please feel free to schedule a call with us to learn more.

Pathway 2 – Doula trainer

This pathway is for you if you’ve begun teaching as a doula or have relevant experience. You will benefit from a ‘ready made’ curriculum and are eager to learn and grow in your doula trainer career. You are an experienced doula and childbirth educator but maybe you need a little more experience in the trainer department. Financial compensation is paid at an hourly rate for trainings and we handle almost everything so you can do what you do best: teach.

Pathway 3 – New trainers

This pathway is for you if you’re an experienced doula but are new to the trainer role. This pathway will include significant instruction on how and what to teach. A full curriculum will be provided to you, including training on how to implement it. You will be supported in your process as you audit a course, co-teach, and are supported as you begin teaching on your own!

Our commitment to YOU

  • Full curriculum with all games, activities, etc
  • Portal for students with additional self-directed learning and documents
  • Continuous improvement in course materials and the addition of new courses
  • Mentorship and collaboration from a team of senior trainers/mentors
  • Team atmosphere where all suggestions are heard, discussed and respected
  • The support of a large admin team that works full-time to support student registration and mentorship
  • The support of a mentor team that is there to help students as they go through the program
  • Affiliate program (if someone signs up from your marketing efforts you are well compensated for that)
  • The support of a high performing sales and marketing team to promote your trainings
  • And oh so much more

Minimum Requirements for our Trainer Program

Required Skills for the Doula Trainer Program:

 

  • Certified Birth doula with 50 or more births
  • Certified Postpartum doula having served over 750 hours of client support
  • Certified childbirth educator or relevant experience, having taught over 15 groups of adult students
  • Current CPR/First Aid
  • Attend the train the trainer retreat. Options include:
    • Oct 16-23, 2026 (Vancouver)
    • April 30-May 7, 2027 (Toronto)
    • October 14-21, 2027 (Vancouver)
  • Pay the required fees (based on Pathway, can range from $0-1250, plus accommodations)
  • Education and training in anti-oppression, trauma-informed
