Meet Your Instructor: Carly Snyders

Carly has been working with children of many ages and in many settings for nearly 20 years. She started as a teacher at an International School. Over 10 years ago, after moving to London, UK, she began her journey as a nanny and maternity nurse, specializing in newborn care.

That journey led her to become a teacher of baby multi-sensory classes. Now, she has found her niche, teaching Baby Massage, Baby Milestones, and Postnatal Pilates.

Having recently settled back in Canada, she was surprised to see the lack of activities for parents with small babies. She is excited to be able to share her classes with us here at Doula School.

What our students say

StephDS Alumni
"OMG this course is SO cute. I love watching Carly do the practice massages. I can't wait to try this with all my client's babies. I'm sure they will LOVE it as the parents will surely love seeing their babies so calm"
SarahPostpartum Doula
"As a postpartum doula I've been doing a little baby massage over the years, but this course has been SO helpful to give me more structured techniques. I feel like I'll be able to make massage time more deliberate and I'm sure my clients will love to see new ways to soothe their baby"
ReneeStudent
"Having access to the course in a self-directed fashion was the best. It allowed me to perfect one technique before moving on to the next. When I do things live, sometimes I forget things or wish I had more time to learn it. Being able to go back is super helpful."
NikiaDoula Student
"Since I need continuing ed for recertification I'm always looking for new things to learn. This course was such a fun addition to my learning for the year. It was short but chock full of techniques and info to help me expand my postpartum doula practice. Definitely worth the investment."

Why Choose Doula School?

There are SO many great reasons to do infant massage:

  • Bonding and Attachment: Infant massage promotes a strong bond between the parent and the baby. The physical touch and the eye contact involved in the massage help to strengthen the emotional connection and attachment.
  • Relaxation and Sleep: Massage can help soothe and relax babies, which may improve their sleep patterns. The calming effects of a gentle massage can reduce stress and make it easier for babies to fall asleep.
  • Improved Circulation and Digestion: Regular massage can stimulate the circulatory and digestive systems, which can help with issues like gas, colic, and constipation.
  • Developmental Benefits: The tactile stimulation from massage can aid in sensory development and enhance motor skills as the baby learns to move and respond to touch.
  • Relief from Discomfort: Infant massage can alleviate discomfort from teething, congestion, and muscle tension. It can also be helpful in reducing symptoms of conditions like colic.
  • Parental Confidence: Learning and practicing infant massage can boost parents’ confidence in handling and soothing their baby, fostering a sense of competence and empowerment.
  • Communication: Massage provides an opportunity for non-verbal communication, allowing parents to understand and respond to their baby’s cues and signals more effectively.
  • Routine and Structure: Incorporating massage into the daily routine can provide a sense of structure and predictability, which is beneficial for both the baby and the parents.
  • Overall, infant massage offers a range of physical, emotional, and developmental benefits that can contribute to the overall well-being of both the baby and the parents. Who better to learn and show how to perform this amazing yet simple skill but US!
