Birth and Postpartum Doula Trainer

Nadine Ross

Nadine is a mother of four beautiful daughters, now teenagers and young adults, and two fur babies. She moved to Whitby in 2002 and has loved raising her family there. She currently lives in Brooklin with her partner and her youngest daughter, and loves spending time with them and the dogs every chance she gets. She loves to travel to sunny destinations and spend time with family and friends at the cottage.

Working out and running has recently become an important part of her life. She loves to learn and is passionate about everything to do with infants and

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Nadine began travelling and relocating with her family at a young age. Living in the United States, Mexico and Montreal, prior to settling in Toronto in the year 2000;
Nadine was exposed to different cultures, people, and languages during her formative years, allowing her to become fluent in French and Spanish. Prior to moving to Toronto, Nadine gave birth to her first child while living in Mexico, and began teaching as a certified ESL teacher to
support her new family. This is when she first learned she had a love for teaching, and is grateful to have formally incorporated this skill and pleasure into her birth work today.

After raising her children and experiencing her own births, Nadine started yearning for a career where she could learn, and feel challenged to grow both personally and professionally. Her own
birth experiences had drawn her to looking into midwifery and nursing as potential careers, but upon realizing these paths weren’t optimal for her situation at that time, she began researching for something more suiting to her and her family. After a bit of research, Nadine found the
Doula career and it was love at first sight! She began her Doula journey with Doula Canada in 2016 and added postpartum Doula training to her qualifications in 2017.

Since then she has taken additional trainings in lactation support, Baby-wearing, Spinning Babies, Working with Multiples and Placenta Services. Early on in her Doula career, Nadine began a volunteer position with the Association of Ontario Doulas in 2018, first as Secretary and as Treasurer since 2020. This role has helped her gain a deeper understanding of Doula work, and helps her
stay at the forefront of important issues affecting families and Doulas in the birthing community.

Finally, Nadine was invited to teach for Doula School in 2022, and feels like this new role has brought everything back full circle. Being an Instructor has given her additional skills to implement in her career and helps her continue to support the change she hopes to see in the birthing culture in Canada and around the world.
